Julie Sprankles is the Deputy Editor of Lifestyle & Entertainment at Scary Mommy and Romper. In her role, she commissions content pertaining to pregnancy, parenting, family life, health and wellness, movies and TV, books, music, home, food, pets, and travel. Please pitch her for Lifestyle here, Entertainment here, and Personal Stories here!
Julie started her career in media as an editorial assistant for a home and design magazine, rising to editor-in-chief in her first year. She remained in that role for five years before shifting full-time to freelance. She then promptly packed up her husband, two children, and two oversized rescue dogs to roll around the U.S. in an RV for three years.
An award-winning journalist and editor, Julie has bylines on Bustle, HuffPost, USA Today, Yahoo, SheKnows, National Geographic, MSN, Business Insider, and more. She’s also enjoyed hammering out copy for major brands along the way, including Target, Levi’s, Land Rover, Keurig, Lowe’s, and CMT.
In her spare time, Julie enjoys extolling the virtues of the Oxford comma, being on the water, beating everyone at Mario Kart, and listening to way too many true crime podcasts.
